Research Interests
Raquel’s research interests focus on the critical examination of digital landscape regulation, particularly platform governance, online safety, and privacy. Her work explores the Digital Services Act (DSA), content moderation, and the fight against online gender-based violence (OGBV) using empirical methods. Raquel aims to uncover gender biases embedded in content moderation policies, with a particular focus on the empirical analysis of the DSA Transparency Database from a gender perspective. She also investigates the role of platforms as indirect regulators and seeks to develop data-driven policy recommendations for designing and enforcing digital frameworks that promote safer online spaces for all.
Her first project, which examines privacy diffusion, analyzes both the Brussels Effect and the California Effect, considering both their 'de iure' (legal) and 'de facto' (web compliance) dimensions.
